Annual Meeting Committee
This committee is responsible for organizing and conducting the annual meeting.   Responsibilities include:
  • Determining the date and venue for the annual meeting
  • Determining and implementing all aspects of the annual meeting including but not limited to food and drinks, registration, silent auction, door prizes, equipment acquisition, and outside displays
  • Preparing a budget for the entire annual meeting
  • Recommending cost to members for meeting
  • Working with other committees that have involvement with the annual meeting
  • Preparing and submitting a written year-end report for the annual meeting and awards for inclusion in the Official Record
  • Acquiring presenters for the awards presentation
  • Preparing a format for the awards presentation to be used by both dressage and eventing points people
  • Arranging and implementing the educational program in consultation with the Education Committee

Awards Committee
This committee is responsible for the year-end awards made by the organization. Responsibilities include:
  • Reviewing and recommending needed changes in the current awards program
  • Coordinating with the Annual Meeting Committee for the awards presentation and display at the annual meeting
  • Ordering and engraving awards
  • Tracking and collecting perpetual trophies
  • Overseeing the volunteer awards
  • Overseeing the collection and calculation of year-end points
  • Providing a list of award winners for publication in the newsletter and on the website
  • Preparing and submitting a written year-end report for the annual meeting and awards for inclusion in the Official Record
  • Preparing and submitting a committee budget for the year

Business and Finance
This committee is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations of the organization.  Responsibilities include:
  • Establishing and overseeing procedures for handling the finances of the organization
  • Collecting and reviewing committee budgets
  • Submitting an operating budget for the organization in January of each year
  • Obtaining and submitting financial statements for each board meeting
  • Obtaining and submitting any official or legal paperwork that may be required
  • Obtaining and submitting a written year-end report for the annual meeting and inclusion in the Official Record
  • Preparing and submitting a committee budget for the year

Educational Committee
This committee is responsible for developing and implementing the educational and member activities for the organization. Responsibilities include:
  • Preparing and submitting an educational plan for the year
  • Preparing and submitting a committee budget for the year
  • Publicizing, implementing and tracking the Scholarshipsprogram
  • Preparing and submitting a written year-end report for the annual meeting and inclusion in the Official Record
  • Organizing and coordinating MSEDA teams for MSEDA-sponsored competitions

Communications and Marketing Committee
This committee is responsible for generating and/or overseeing all forms of media presentation within the organization and for developing and implementing a marketing plan to attract new members and promote MSEDA. Responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing, producing, and mailing the newsletter
  • Overseeing, producing, and maintaining the website
  • Producing the yearly membership roster
  • Creating, reviewing, and revising written, visual, or audio communications as needed
  • Preparing and submitting a written year-end report for the annual meeting and inclusion in the Official Record
  • Developing and implementing promotional opportunities for the organization
  • Developing and distributing promotional materials including written, audio, and video materials
  • Preparing and submitting a committee budget for the year
  • Preparing and submitting a written year-end report for the annual meeting and inclusion in the Official Record

Competitions Committee
This committee is responsible for developing and implementing all programs related to MSEDA competitions, officials and organizers. Responsibilities include:
·         Implementing MSEDA sanctioning programs and policies
·         Tracking violations of sanctioning policy and presenting them, as necessary, to the Board
·         Creating and maintaining an updated Calendar of Competitions
·         Providing an updated Calendar of Sanctioned Events to the Newsletter Editor and
      Webmaster
·         Maintaining open communications with MSEDA organizers
·         Providing updates of any applicable USEF rule changes
·         Maintaining records of license renewals, records of officiating, and re-certification requirements
·         Scheduling and implementing all officials’ educational forums
·         Developing alternative options for officials not able to attend yearly forums
·         Developing and enforcing disciplinary actions concerning officials
·         Determining the need for additional certification programs
·         Maintaining an up-to-date roster of licensed officials for the newsletter and website
·         Preparing and submitting a committee budget for the year
·         Preparing and submitting a written year-end report for the annual meeting and inclusion in the Official Record

Membership Committee
The goal of the membership committee is to actively increase membership by recruiting new members while retaining current members through research of reasons for membership loss, providing for needs of changing membership and making MSEDA more visible to potential members
This committee is responsible for developing and implementing a marketing plan to attract new members and promote MSEDA. Responsibilities include:
  • Researching ways to improve MSEDA visibility
  • Developing a written plan for recruitment
  • Coordinating with Marketing and Communications, Education and Nominating Committees
  • Overseeing an annual membership drive

Nominating Committee
This committee is responsible for developing a slate of nominees for office in the organization. Responsibilities include:
  • Tracking terms of office for officers and Board members
  • Contacting and interviewing possible candidates for Board membership
  • Conducting the election of Board nominees at the annual meeting
  • Preparing and submitting a committee budget for the year
  • Preparing and submitting a written year-end report for inclusion in the Official Record
  • Conducting and reviewing an annual demographic analysis of membership to determine the appropriate geographic composition of the Board
  • Making recommendations as necessary to the Board for changes in the composition of the Board
