and
USEA Area 8 annual brunch, meeting and awards

at The Campbell House in Lexington, KY
on February 4-5, 2023

Join us for the annual meetings of both the MSEDA and the USEA Area 8 at The Campbell House in Lexington, KY. MSEDA and Area 8 will be hosting educational panels during the day, which are free to MSEDA and Area 8 members.

Educational activities also count toward continuing education for MSEDA Officials.

(MSEDA) 10am-12pm New USDF Dressage Tests Discussion with Susan Posner, Sue Mandas, Karen Winn and Marilyn Payne

This panel will discuss the new USEF tests for dressage that are in effect as of December 1, 2022, including notable changes from a judge's perspective. We will also review the new USEF tests for eventing that have been used for the 2022 show season. The panel will cover various other topics (and take audience questions) including: how to communicate with officials at a competition, commonly misunderstood penalties, rule differences between eventing dressage and USDF dressage, code of conduct for officials, and conflict of interest. This panel will count toward MSEDA official's continuing education hours. 

(MSEDA) 1:30pm-2:15pm MSEDA Show Organizers Meeting

All MSEDA show organizers are invited to discuss our local show circuit sanctioned by MSEDA. Max Corcoran will discuss ways that a show can maximize their competition within their specific resources including budget, venue, and volunteers. We will discuss applicable rule changes and other information specifically geared toward our competition organizers. Non-organizers are welcome to sit in on this discussion as silent auditors. 

(MSEDA) 2:30pm-3:30pm MSEDA Annual Business Meeting

During our annual business meeting, board members will present a review of the 2022 year, and we will hold a vote for incoming board members. Only MSEDA members in good standing may vote. 

(MSEDA and Area 8) 3:30pm-5:30pm Large Panel with all Panelists, discussions based on questions from audience. Panelists will be Susan Posner, Sue Mandas, Max Corcoran, Karen Winn, and Marilyn Payne.

This panel will cover a variety of topics applicable to both eventers and dressage riders, including: volunteering and the volunteer incentive program, adult amateur goal-setting, conflict of interest, how MSEDA and Area 8 can maximize education, what being a USEA affiliate means (and what resources MSEDA has access to as an affiliate), and resources AA can utilize. Questions from the audience are welcomed and encouraged! 

(MSEDA) 6:00pm Cocktails followed by Dinner and Awards

Pre-registration by 1/19 is required for guaranteed dinner ticket, each ticket includes two drink tickets and dinner. Registration will be accepted at the door as space allows. Year-end awards will be presented after the conclusion of dinner.

(Area 8) Silent Auction will be online prior to the event, auction will close at 11am the day of the event.

MSEDA’s mission is to promote and preserve the sports of Eventing and Dressage in the Mid-South area, by providing leadership and education to its members and the community at large. To further these goals, MSEDA will provide educational opportunities, fair and safe competitions, promote the welfare of the horse and rider and reward the pursuit of excellence from the grass roots to the FEI level.
